The Origin of the OPC. . .
The Orthodox Presbyterian Church was founded on June 11, 1936, in the aftermath of the fundamentalist-modernist controversy, under the leadership of J. Gresham Machen (longtime professor of New Testament at Princeton Theological Seminary, who also founded Westminster Theological Seminary in 1929). With the infiltration of theological liberalism, the mainline Presbyterian Church in the USA had departed from historic Christianity, including the rejection of doctrines such as the inspiration and authority of Scripture, the virgin birth of Christ, and the substitutionary atonement. Originally calling itself the Presbyterian Church of America, the young church was forced by the threat of a lawsuit to change its name in 1939, and it adopted the name Orthodox Presbyterian Church.

The Origin of Grace OPC. . .
The doors to the church first opened way back on September 22, 1936. The church originally met at the home of J. Enoch Faw on South Euclid Avenue with 12 charter members, inclduing Westminster Seminary senior and soon-to-be first pastor, Rev. Donald C. Graham, who served until 1940.
The congregation steadily grew from its inception until it reached its peak membership in the late 1970’s when the congregation had just over 250 members.
Our New Beginning . . .
On June 19, 2015, Grace Presbyterian Church called, by unanimous, first-call vote, our current Pastor, Rev. Timothy Ferguson, Esquire who agreed to serve as our 11th Pastor in 75 years. Rev. Ferguson came to Grace Presbyterian Church after serving for twenty plus years as a practicing trial attorney, licensed in the States of NJ and PA. He had his own law practice in Camden County, NJ.
Since coming to Grace, Pastor Ferguson has exhibited a love for both God’s word and his people. He has demonstarted an extraordinary gift of teaching and preaching the inerrant, and infallible word of God in its fullness that has served to build up Grace church members and bring a sense of new life and vibrancy to Grace church. He always has his door open and makes himself available to members of both the church and community. He would welcome meeting with you to answer any questions you may have.
For a sample of Pastor Ferguson’s preaching, please feel free to visit the sermons section of our website or join us for worship any Sunday morning at 10:15 a.m.
